Point Gratiot, after some repair work work, is open again to the public
In a news release to the OBSERVER today, Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas made the announcement. The heavy wind storm last Saturday caused extreme lake levels and immense waves that washed out a park road.
With limestone rip-rap quickly but securely installed according to an emergency permit from DEC secured by DPW, the road has been restored. Rosas, in the release, thanked residents for their patience as this gem of a city park was closed for repair. The mayor also thanked the DPW for expediting the repair and Dunkirk Police Department for extra patrols to secure the park for safety while the road was fixed.
