Happy Tuesday! I’m back on the deal hunt after a long weekend in New Orleans, Louisiana — where, frankly, I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep. Who among us manages eight hours in the Big Easy anyway? So, I’ve got sleep on the brain. You spend almost half your life in bed, so it might as well be a good one. That’s why we’re highlighting this impressive spring sale from Helix, where you can get up to $350 off any mattress purchase depending on how much you spend and 2 free pillows. But this deal may not be for everyone. Here’s what to know before you buy.

Helix Spring Into Bed Sale

Up to $350 + 2 FREE Dream Pillows

Get up to $350 off this award-winning mattress brand of 2021 and receive 2 free pillows with purchase. Helix mattresses come with a 100-night free trial.

What reviewers say about Helix: Wired gave the Helix Midnight Luxe Hybrid Mattress (14-inch) its 2021 Best Overall Mattress honorific last year. “I have tried out a lot of mattresses in the past few years, but only one put me to sleep just lying on it,” the reviewer wrote. “Helix mattresses are hybrids and have a base of individually wrapped springs that are firmer in areas that need more support to prevent back pain, like your lower spine.” The reviewer says the mattress is cozy and cites the company’s wide variety of mattresses that address firmness preferences and various sleeping positions. The downside? “The only downside is that the price is as “Luxe” as its comfort.”

What’s more, GQ named the Helix Sleep Midnight Luxe Hybrid Mattress its reviewers overall favorite, noting that: “The Helix Midnight Luxe, a hybrid mattress with a coil base and a luxurious memory foam top, was a runaway favorite among GQ staffers. It’s just so damn comfortable (“nice pillow top, but not too soft, with a healthy but forgiving spring,” noted one enthusiastic tester).”

Nearly 24,000 reviewers on the site give Helix an average review rating of 4.6 stars. “This is definitely a must have if you sleep on your side and have any hip issues. It’s super comfy and I barely want to get up in the morning — which may or may not be a good thing!” one reviewer writes. Many reviewers noted that Helix’s customer service is exceptional as well. “We have enjoyed the mattress and did request the pillow topper after sleeping on the mattress for 30 days. The customer service was great and I would definitely purchase another Helix in the future.”

It’s also worth noting that Helix offers a 100-day trial — so you can take the time you need to see if it’s worth the investment.

Other things to consider: In order to get the full $350 in savings, you do need to spend $2,950 — which may mean multiple mattresses. Helix mattresses start at $699 for some twins, with the Luxe models maxing out at around $2,349, according to Sleep Foundation. The deal starts at $100 off if you spend $600 or more.

It seems like the biggest complaint about Helix straight out of the box is it has an unpleasant new mattress smell, which reviewers say does go away in a couple of days. Other reviewers had a hard time finding the right fit for them and returned their mattress during the trial. “The bed felt comfortable when laying on it, but we would both wake up with bad back and neck pain. We gave it 2 months but decided to return it,” one reviewer said.
