Gaming is getting “closer and closer to what is a real metaverse” for tech companies, the European Union’s digital and antitrust chief said, ahead of a potential review of Microsoft Corp.’s $69 billion bid for Activision Blizzard Inc.

Margrethe Vestager wants to see competition between gaming platforms, she said, when asked about the deal at a Reuters BreakingViews event on Tuesday.
