Sensory-friendly ‘Santa Cares’ at The Shoppes
The Shoppes at Carlsbad offers children with special needs a chance to visit Santa during one of two “Santa Cares” days before the mall opens from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today and Dec. 12. This will be a sensory-friendly, less hectic event so these children can experience the time-honored tradition of a visit and photos with Santa. Go to the lower level, near Macy’s. Chamber set to host seminar on tax credit
The Greater Escondido Chamber of Commerce hosts Jennifer Schoeneck, Escondido’s deputy director of economic development, for a free Cal Competes Tax Credit workshop. The workshop will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the chamber office, 720 N. Broadway. The types of businesses that can most profit from this seminar are those that plan to grow and/or offer high-wage jobs over the next five years; are in an innovative or high-growth industry; and that are considering moving to another state if they can’t get tax relief in California. Grants available to help employment
Grant funding is available from the Escondido Community Foundation to support organizations that provide workforce development resources needed for economic growth in Escondido. In the 2022-23 grant cycle, the foundation, an affiliate of The San Diego Foundation, invites local organizations to submit a letter of intent specifically for projects in Escondido. The foundation is committed to programs that provide resources for job readiness, job shadowing, internships, vocational education, advancement opportunities and technology instruction. These projects should be achievable within a 12-month time frame, and have prospects for long-term sustainability. ‘Wine and a Bite’ art walk Friday
The Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce hosts the “Wine and a Bite” art walk from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in downtown Fallbrook. Stroll among the shops and galleries, and sample wine and food. Prices are $20 for military and designated driver or $30 for general admission; commemorative glass included. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local youth organizations. The Vista Altitude Trampoline Park has reopened to the public at 1928 Hacienda Drive. The park features thousands of square feet of trampolines, zip lines, rock climbing, dodgeball, trampoline basketball and other challenges, all in a clean and safe environment.
