Chromebooks started out as simple, inexpensive laptops that didn’t offer much more than a browser. But now the tide has turned. There are rich web apps that work like native apps. There’s console-level cloud gaming, and Chrome OS comes with full Android support. It may be time to offer more for all niches.
Chromebooks are constantly evolving in all directions.
What is already happening on the software side should now be expanded on the hardware side as well. There are Chromebooks with high system performance, but they are designed almost exclusively for business. However, gaming has also become a major USP for mobile devices. There are even some new and interesting gaming smartphones coming out regularly.
Gaming features end on Chrome OS
Stadia, GeForce Now, and soon Steam too – there’s been a lot going on recently for Chromebooks in the area of gaming. And, at the latest, with a new flag of features, it is clear that new hardware is also on the way. Chrome OS supports to know RGB keyboards, which are typical of the gaming sector. Currently still in a testing phase, the system should offer full adaptability for RGB keyboards.
Accessories or full Chromebooks for gaming?
First off, the new feature is likely to be exciting for external keyboards. But it should only be a matter of time before the first full-fledged gaming Chromebooks that rely entirely on cloud gaming and Android gaming are available. Or the big launch of Steam support will be accompanied by new hardware that we can then buy. It’s still exciting.
