The Ukrainian authorities keep hoping to hold a big sporting event in the country. Among the priorities are the Winter Olympic Games in 2030.
Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutsait said that the task is to hold the Olympic Games in Ukraine.
“The President set a task – both the President and the entire sports community really want – we are entering the fight for the Olympic Games in Ukraine. Youth – in 2028 and Winter Olympic Games – in 2030. Why are we doing this? First, the prestige of the country Holding the Olympic Games in the country means attracting powerful investors, new infrastructure, new sports infrastructure. We understand that the more sports infrastructure, the more where children will come to study, “Gutsait is convinced.
At the same time he admits that we do not yet have all the necessary infrastructure to host such competitions.
“We are considering our western region: Bukovel, for example, there is already a certain infrastructure. Yes, we do not have enough hockey palaces, yes, we do not have enough tracks for giant slalom, but some of this already exists,” Gutsait said./p>
When the host of the 2030 Olympics will be known
The host country for the Olympics is usually announced seven years before the tournament, before the start of the new Olympics. Consequently, who will host the 2030 Winter Olympics may become known as early as 2023.
However, before that, a country ready to host the competition must submit an official application to the International Olympic Committee. After that, the Commission for Determining the Future Host conducts specific negotiations with countries that may become future hosts (of all applicants for this stage, several applications are submitted). Then there is a vote of the IOC delegates during the session. The application with the most votes wins.
At least four applications for the 2030 Winter Olympics are known so far: Vancouver (Canada), Sapporo (Japan), Salt Lake City (USA), Barcelona – Pyrenees (joint application of three countries: Spain, France and Andorra).
