Bulldogs, Harman in title games
The Inter-Mountain file photo Tygarts Valley faces host South Harrison in the WVHIT Division 1 title game and Harman battles Montcalm for the Division 2 crown today in Lost Creek.
LOST CREEK — Tygarts Valley and Harman will play for titles in their respective divisions in today’s WVHIT finale being held at South Harrison High School.
The Class A, No. 7 Bulldogs (11-4) face Class AA, No. 6 and unbeaten South Harrison (16-0) at 7 p.m. in the Division I championship game.
It will be the third meeting of the season between the teams.
Tygarts Valley defeated Clay-Battelle, 75-61, on Wednesday to secure a spot in the title game, while the Hawks bested visiting East Hardy on Friday night.
Harman, under interim coach Mike DiPasquale, faces Montcalm at 5 p.m. for the Division 2 banner.
The Panthers (10-4) have been idle since knocking off Hundred in WVHIT play on Jan. 31.
Other games on tap for today at South Harrison include Clay-Battelle vs. Meadow Bridge (11:30 a.m.), Paden City vs. Union (1 p.m.) and Greenbrier West vs. East Hardy (2:30 p.m).
Paw Paw faced Hundred in Friday’s other contest.
The WVHIT, in its 12th season, provides smaller public single-A schools in the state an opportunity to play in a tournament-like atmosphere.
